✨ WE ALWAYS EXISTED ✨ - Rang De Pride

09/15/2026, 6:00 PM

Location: Online

A History of Transgender Communities in Pre-Colonial South Asia

What if we told you that trans and third-gender communities have always been part of South Asian history?

Rang De Pride is launching a 5-part series exploring trans history, advocacy, and joy in the South Asian diaspora—starting with a look back at the communities, traditions, and structures that existed long before colonial rule.

Our first session explores eras of legitimacy: from sacred texts and mythology, to royal courts, community kinship systems, ritual roles, and the diverse histories of trans and third-gender communities across South Asia.

🎙️ Our first speaker: @ShubhamMehrotraOfficial
Founder of @50shadesofgayofficial , Asia’s digital archive dedicated to LGBTQIA+ history and culture. With nearly a decade of archival work and thousands of researched stories documenting queer and trans histories across South Asia, Shubham brings a wealth of knowledge to this conversation.
